Becki
“I just love seeing people enjoying themselves, having a great time!”
Whether serenading audiences with the sweet sound of romance or stirring them up with the swinging rhythms of rock ’n’ roll’s heyday, Becki Fishwick transforms any event into a special occasion – and always with a retro twist!
A mid-century modernist at heart, the soulful tones of Cumbrian singer Becki are an emotional voyage from vintage soul and blues, to jazz and beyond. Styling out the old favourites for today’s turntable and making new memories with Dusty, Patsy, Etta and Aretha as her guardian angels, Becki blends 50s and 60s Motown and pop with her rockabilly roots through a voice as distinctive as her immaculate golden age style. Like Hollywood icons Bettie Paige, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn; “I’ll always make the effort and put my lipstick on,” Becki says.
Honing her craft as a wedding singer (winning the LTG North west wedding singer award in 2019, shortlisted for Country Brides North West Wedding Awards and organiser of Vintage in the Lakes Wedding Fayre) her passionate delivery and authentic voice also defines her debut self-penned single, ‘Know You Know.’ Tim Burgess of chart-topping band The Charlatans has even given it’s B-side – Becki’s cover of their song ‘One to Another’ – his personal blessing after she performed in his Tim Peaks Diner at Kendal Calling festival.
Capturing the attention of Vintage Life magazine, retro fashion houses Collectif London and Vivien of Holloway, as well as Laura Ashley, Soap & Glory, Costa Coffee and Mary Portas at House of Fraser, Becki time-hops to bespoke repertoires that transcend time and genre to suit the occasion. Becki finds joy in entertaining audiences of all sizes; she has performed at boutique events in intimate cocktail lounges and hotels including Grange over Sands’ The Grange Hotel, and The Belsfield, plus events for Manchester University and Furness Building Society.
There were even those times she organised her own Amy Winehouse Experience to 300 fellow music lovers – a sold out night of remembrance approved by Amy’s mum Janis – and dazzled 1500 passengers with her own cabaret whilst working as an Events Programme Manager for P&O cruise liners around the Mediterranean, Belgium, Norway and the Caribbean.
Above all, Becki wants you and your audience to have a great time. Offering options to suit a variety of budgets, her down-to-earth work ethic sees Becki rolling up her sleeves and getting stuck in with her hands-on approach to every show. From first dance or father-daughter waltz to giving product launches a touch of glamour, she’ll be there; dressed to the nines in full hair and make-up, probably carrying an amp and microphone, and always keeping her retro cool. “I’ve never been the kind of person to sit still for long,” she says.
A modern-day vocalist who knows how to set the right vintage tone, Becki Fishwick won’t stop until every foot is tapping in the key of B.
